Prices for commodity resins look like they’ll be volatile again in March.
In the March 18 Polymers Points Live, senior reporter Frank Esposito predicted a big price drop for polypropylene in March, flat prices for polyethylene and polystyrene, and potentially higher prices for PET and PVC.
In February, PP and PVC prices were up 4 cents per pound and 2 cents per pound, respectively, despite sluggish demand. PE prices were flat, even though suppliers had tried to get a 5-cent-per-pound increase, Esposito said.
Also in today’s video, senior reporter Jim Johnson interviewed Pete Keller, vice president of recycling and sustainability for Republic Services Inc., at the company’s new $180 million plastics recycling complex in Indianapolis.
