Automotive injection molder Stratus Plastics International Inc. is expanding operations in Morgantown, Ky., immediately creating 40 new jobs to meet supply line demand from a major automotive manufacturer that operates "close by."
The total investment of $8 million will be used to purchase silos, cranes and machines for the 165,000-square-foot Kentucky plant, Colby Wu, business developer for Stratus' Windsor, Ontario, plant told Plastics News.
The Morgantown plant has "additional space to add another 10 machines," Wu said.
Stratus expects to add a total of 135 new jobs to the area "in the years to come," a March 4 news release by the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development said.
"Stratus Plastics is proud to be part of the Morgantown community," Dave Kondracki, Stratus Plastics Kentucky plant manager, said. "We strive to develop not only our plastic products in a variety of manufacturing applications, but also the people we employ in our community and connections throughout the state."
The company currently employs 45 workers at the Morgantown location, which produces automotive, industrial and consumer products for Tier 1 automotive suppliers and non-automotive customers. Its Windsor operation employs more than 30 people and offers injection molding, machining, robotics and auxiliary assembly equipment.
